Ecuador v Bolivia preview: Valencia wants points for La Tri

Gustavo Quinteros' men currently sit bottom of Group A and their star striker knows they cannot afford another defeat against El Verde

Ecuador striker Enner Valencia knows that his team need to get a positive result when they take on Bolivia in their second Copa América fixture in Valparaíso on Monday.
La Tri suffered a 2-0 defeat to hosts Chile on the opening night of the competition, while El Verde picked up a point against invitees Mexico the following day.
Subsequently, Gustavo Quinteros' men are rooted to the bottom of the Group A table.
They now will kick off the second round of fixtures when they face Mauricio Soria's side at the Estadio Elías Figueroa Brander.
And Valencia knows that La Tri cannot afford to leave without a result, which he feels they need more than Bolivia, and he expects his side to play in an attacking fashion.

"Our coach likes to have a team that goes on the attack and looks for the opponent and I think that it will be very important to have this attitude in the match with Bolivia," he said.
"We are confident that against Bolivia we can do better things. The two teams are in need of a win, but us more because we still don't have any points."
The results of the previous clashes between the two sides at the Copa América are evenly split, with one victory each and five draws from their seven meetings, but in all competitions Ecuador have been far superior - not losing to El Verde in 11 fixtures.
In order to continue that run in Valparaíso, though, Walter Ayoví believes that la Tri need to work on the errors from their last outing."The team knows that we made mistakes against Chile and we hope that we can work on rectifying that. The important thing is that on Monday we can have a good game," added the captain.
Their cause may be aided in the fact that Bolivia have two key players struggling following their Group A debut.
Marcelo Martins (foot) and Jhasmani Campos (thigh) picked up knocks in the meeting with Mexico, though the seriousness of their issues is yet to be confirmed.
Such a blow could make it difficult to pick up their first Copa win since finishing as runners-up in 1997, while Quinteros has no worries following Ecuador's outing against Chile.

Barcelona and Bayern semifinal live watch!!!!!!!

Juventus, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern will fight for the European trophy.

Four teams fighting for European glory. Some Real Madrid fans will surely want to face Juventus in the Semifinals while letting Barcelona and Bayern fight for a spot in the Final, and that seems quite legit. While Juve are a good side, they aren't as strong and dangerous as the other two.
However, it's true that Real have looked good against Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona recently, something that should encourage both the fans and the players. When in form, Real Madrid are the team to beat in this competition, and luckily enough for the coaching staff  Karim  Benzema and Gareth Bale will almost surely be able to feature in this Semifinals. All things said, it's never easy to reach the Champions League Final, so Carlo Ancelotti and his pupils will have to get everything right if they want to play for back-to-back Champions League success in Berlin next June.

CL semi-finals: Barcelona v Bayern Munich and Juventus v Real Madrid

Pep Guardiola faces an emotional return to Barcelona after his current club, Bayern Munich, were drawn to face them in the semi-final of the Champions League. In a classic last four the defending champions, Real Madrid, play Juventus in the other tie. The four clubs have between them won the competition 21 times in its 60-year history but there was little doubt about which plot-line deserved top billing.

Guardiola was both a playing and managerial hero at Barcelona, winning a host of honours, after emerging through the club’s youth system. As a player he won six league titles and the European Cup in 1992 while he added three more league titles and two Champions Leagues during his all-conquering four-year spell in managerial charge, which ended in 2012.
Guardiola joined Bayern at the beginning of last season and won the domestic league and cup double but a heavy Champions League semi-final defeat by Real was the major blot. Bayern are once again on course for the domestic double but Guardiola has said he must add the Champions League if the season is to be considered a success.
It will be the first time he has faced Barcelona in a competitive game – there was a charity friendly with Bayern shortly after he took over. The last time the clubs met in earnest was in the Champions League semi-final of 2013, when the German club won 7-0 on aggregate en route to the trophy. Guardiola was on sabbatical at the time.
“Everyone understands how special this game is for me, for Thiago [Alcântara, Bayern’s former Barcelona midfielder] and my staff,” Guardiola said. “Barcelona was our life. When you are in a semi-final, then you will always face a big team. What can I say? Barcelona is my home. I knew this would happen sooner or later. I am very happy that I can experience this. It’s a nice game but not easy. Believe me, Barcelona are the strongest.”
Guardiola was full of praise for Luis Enrique, his former Barcelona team-mate, who is now the club’s manager. “Barcelona are the best team at the moment and I am not surprised,” Guardiola said. “He [Luis Enrique] has a lot of quality. He is a great coach and a great man. They have brought in Neymar, [Luis] Suárez and they have a new coach. But, other than that, they still play the same, with the same mentality.”
Real are seeking to become the first club to win back-to-back titles since the Champions League format began in 1992. And the manager, Carlo Ancelotti, hopes to become the first man to lead teams to Europe’s top club title for a fourth time.
“Juventus are having a very good season and have practically won the Italian league,” said Ancelotti, who previously managed the Turin club. “That means they can focus more on the Champions League.” Juventus’s last semi-final was in 2003, when they beat Real before losing to Milan.
In the Europe League, the holders Sevilla will take on Fiorentina for a place in this season’s final.
Retaining the title would see the Spanish club win the competition for a record fourth time, although overcoming La Viola will be a big ask.
Florentines overcame Tottenham, Roma and Dynamo Kyiv en route to the last four and have home advantage for the second leg.
The other tie sees Rafael Benítez’s Napoli take on Dnipro Dnepropetrovsk of Ukraine for a place in the Warsaw final, which takes place on 27 May.

The Europa League semi-final ties will be played on 7 May and 14 May.

Luis Suárez scores hat-trick as leaders Barcelona run riot to relegate Córdoba

Luis Suárez netted a hat-trick while Lionel Messi scored twice – his 50th and 51st goals of the season in all competitions – as Barcelona routed bottom club Córdoba 8-0 on Saturday to extend their lead at the top of La Liga.

Barcelona opened up a five-point gap over Real Madrid, with Carlo Ancelotti’s second-placed team visiting Sevilla later on Saturday, while the defeat, Córdoba’s 17th game without a win, confirmed the team’s relegation.
It took until the 42nd minute for Barcelona to take the lead, as Messi played Ivan Rakitic clear to start the rout, before Suárez grabbed his first goal in first-half injury time.
Dani Alves crossed for both Messi and Suárez to add headed goals before defender Gerard Piqué netted a header of this own.
Messi scored his second, then turned down the opportunity for a hat-trick, instead allowing Neymar to take an 85th-minute penalty to make it 7-0. Instead, it was Suárez who sealed his hat-trick in the 88th minute.
